Here is a story that Jesus told.

A farmer goes out to plant his field. He scatters seed.
Some seeds land on a path and birds come along and eat the seeds.
Some seeds land on rocky soil but because there is not much soil the seeds grow and die.
Some seeds land on soil covered with thorns and thickets. The seeds grow but get chocked and die.
While some seeds land on good soil grow and produce a good harvest.
